SeedSnatcher

SeedSnatcher is an Android infostealer focused on cryptocurrency theft, specifically stealing seed phrases from crypto wallet apps and targeting multiple wallet mnemonic phrases. It has been reported as distributed under the name "Coin" via Telegram. The malware uses overlay-based phishing to capture wallet seed phrases and performs BIP-39 validation on captured phrases. Reported capabilities also include intercepting incoming SMS messages to steal two-factor authentication codes, capturing device data, contacts, call logs, and files, and collecting sensitive information through phishing overlays. SeedSnatcher initially requests minimal permissions and later escalates privileges. It uses dynamic class loading, stealthy WebView injection, and integer-based C2 instructions as evasion and operational techniques. Reporting cited in the content assesses it as likely operated by China-based or Chinese-speaking actors.
