Critical

Unauthenticated OS Command Execution in UNIMO DVR Web Interface

IdentifiersCVE-2022-35733CWE-306· Missing Authentication for…

A missing authentication vulnerability exists in UNIMO Technology digital video recorders (UDR-JA1004/JA1008/JA1016 firmware v1.0.20.13 and earlier, and UDR-JA1016 firmware v2.0.20.13 and earlier) where the web interface fails to enforce authentication for a critical function. This allows remote, unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary operating system commands by sending specially crafted requests to the device's web interface.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands on the affected DVR devices without authentication, potentially leading to full device compromise, lateral movement within the network, data exfiltration, or use of the device as a pivot for further attacks.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Restrict network access to the DVR web interface to trusted hosts only, implement network segmentation, and monitor for suspicious activity targeting the device. Disable unnecessary services and interfaces if possible until a patch is applied.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade the firmware of affected UNIMO DVR devices to a version that addresses this vulnerability. Ensure that the web interface enforces proper authentication for all critical functions.
