Privilege Escalation in Flex Store Users WordPress Plugin <= 1.1.0

IdentifiersCVE-2025-13619CWE-269· Improper Privilege Management

CVE-2025-13619 is a critical privilege escalation vulnerability in the Flex Store Users WordPress plugin, affecting all versions up to and including 1.1.0. The vulnerability arises from insufficient restrictions in the 'fsUserHandle::signup' and 'fsSellerRole::add_role_seller' functions, which fail to properly validate or restrict the user roles that can be assigned during registration. As a result, an unauthenticated attacker can specify the 'administrator' role via the 'fs_type' parameter (when the Flex Store Seller plugin is also active) and register as a site administrator, thereby gaining full administrative access to the WordPress site.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows unauthenticated attackers to register new accounts with administrator privileges, resulting in full compromise of the affected WordPress site. Attackers can then perform any administrative action, including installing malicious plugins, modifying site content, or exfiltrating sensitive data.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Restrict access to the registration functionality, especially if the Flex Store Seller plugin is also active. Consider disabling user registration or using a web application firewall (WAF) to block requests attempting to set the 'fs_type' parameter to 'administrator'. Monitor for unauthorized administrator account creation.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Update the Flex Store Users plugin to a version that properly restricts user role assignment during registration. Ensure that both 'fsUserHandle::signup' and 'fsSellerRole::add_role_seller' functions enforce strict role validation and do not allow arbitrary role assignment by user-supplied input. If no patched version is available, disable the plugin until a fix is released.
