Cisco Secure Firewall ASA multiple context mode SCP cross-context file access

IdentifiersCVE-2026-20062CWE-284

A vulnerability in the CLI of Cisco Secure Firewall Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software when operating in multiple context mode could allow an authenticated local attacker with administrative privileges in a non-admin context to copy files to or from other contexts (including admin and system contexts) via crafted Secure Copy Protocol (SCP) copy commands. The issue is caused by improper access controls for SCP operations when the CiscoSSH stack is enabled, enabling cross-context read/create/overwrite of sensitive files such as configuration files. The attacker cannot enumerate files in other contexts and must know the exact target file path, increasing exploitation complexity.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows cross-context unauthorized file access: reading sensitive files and creating or overwriting files belonging to other contexts (including admin/system), potentially enabling configuration tampering and disclosure of sensitive configuration data. The provided information states the attacker cannot directly impact the availability of services pertaining to other contexts.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Information currently not available in the provided content (no workaround/mitigation guidance included).

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Information currently not available in the provided content (no fixed releases or patch guidance included).
