Unauthenticated Remote DoS via memory exhaustion in Cisco ASA/FTD Remote Access SSL VPN

IdentifiersCVE-2026-20106CWE-20

A vulnerability in Cisco Secure Firewall Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software and Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense (FTD) Software affecting the Remote Access SSL VPN, HTTP management, and MUS functionality allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to exhaust device memory and trigger a denial-of-service condition that requires a manual reboot to recover. The issue is caused by trusting user-supplied input without adequate validation; an attacker can send crafted packets to the Remote Access SSL VPN server to induce memory exhaustion and cause the device to stop responding.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation results in device memory exhaustion leading to loss of responsiveness/availability (denial of service). Recovery requires manual reboot of the affected device, implying sustained outage until operator intervention.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Information currently not available in the provided content (no workaround/mitigation guidance included).

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Information currently not available in the provided content (no fixed versions or patch guidance included).
