Cisco Secure Firewall ASA/FTD IKEv2 Memory Exhaustion DoS

IdentifiersCVE-2026-20013CWE-401· Missing Release of Memory after…

A vulnerability in the IKEv2 feature of Cisco Secure Firewall ASA Software and Cisco Secure FTD Software allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to trigger a denial-of-service condition via memory exhaustion. The issue is caused by a memory leak during IKEv2 packet processing (memory is not freed), such that repeated processing of crafted IKEv2 packets can exhaust device resources. Successful exploitation can lead to a DoS condition that ultimately requires a manual reload of the affected device and may also impact availability of services to other devices elsewhere in the network.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Remote, unauthenticated denial of service against the affected ASA/FTD device due to resource (memory) exhaustion. The device may become unavailable and require manual reload to recover; service availability for other network devices may also be impacted as a downstream effect of the firewall outage/degradation.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.
