Stack-based Buffer Overflow in Tenda W12 cgiWifiMacFilterSet

IdentifiersCVE-2026-10191CWE-121· Stack-based Buffer Overflow

CVE-2026-10191 is a remotely exploitable stack-based buffer overflow affecting Tenda W12 firmware version 3.0.0.7(4763). The flaw is in the cgiWifiMacFilterSet function within /bin/httpd and is triggered by manipulation of the wifiMacFilterSet.macList.mac argument. Improper handling of attacker-controlled input allows data to overflow a stack buffer during request processing. Public exploit disclosure has been reported.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation can crash the affected service or device and may enable arbitrary code execution in the context of the vulnerable /bin/httpd process. The published scoring and advisory context indicate high potential impact to confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Until a vendor fix is available, restrict access to the device management interface to trusted administrative networks only, disable or tightly limit remote administration, place affected devices behind firewall or ACL controls, and monitor for suspicious requests targeting the wifiMacFilterSet.macList.mac parameter or the cgiWifiMacFilterSet endpoint. Network isolation of affected devices is advisable if exposure cannot be reduced sufficiently.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade Tenda W12 devices from firmware 3.0.0.7(4763) to a vendor-fixed release if one is available. If no patched firmware is available, replace or retire affected devices where feasible. Validate with the vendor whether updated firmware addressing CVE-2026-10191 has been released before redeployment.
