Cross-origin data leak via uninitialized GPU use in Google Chrome on Android

IdentifiersCVE-2026-12469CWE-908

CVE-2026-12469 is a high-severity uninitialized use vulnerability in the GPU component of Google Chrome on Android prior to version 149.0.7827.155. According to the provided advisory content, a remote attacker can trigger the flaw by getting a victim to load a crafted HTML page. The vulnerability results from use of uninitialized state or memory in the GPU-related code path, which can expose data that should not be accessible across origins. The stated consequence is leakage of cross-origin data rather than code execution.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows a remote attacker to disclose cross-origin data from the victim's browser session on affected Android Chrome versions. This is an information disclosure issue that can undermine browser origin isolation and expose sensitive data accessible in other origins or contexts rendered by the browser.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

No specific vendor workaround is provided in the supplied content aside from patching. As interim risk reduction, limit exposure by updating immediately, restricting use of outdated Chrome on Android, and reducing visits to untrusted or attacker-controlled web content until the fixed version is deployed.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade Google Chrome on Android to version 149.0.7827.155 or later. Where Chromium is consumed through downstream packaging, apply the vendor-fixed build corresponding to Chrome/Chromium 149.0.7827.155 or newer.
