IdentifiersCVE-2025-11190CWE-601

CVE-2025-11190 is an open redirection vulnerability in SynchroWeb Kiwire Captive Portal. According to the provided content, the issue exists in handling of the login-url parameter, which can be manipulated to cause the captive portal to redirect users to an attacker-controlled website. Because the redirection is delivered through the trusted captive portal workflow, an attacker can abuse the portal’s legitimacy to increase the likelihood that users will follow the redirect and trust the destination.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows an attacker to redirect users from the Kiwire Captive Portal to attacker-controlled infrastructure. This can be used to facilitate phishing, credential theft, malware delivery, or other social-engineering attacks. The advisory notes that the trusted nature of the captive portal domain increases the likelihood of successful exploitation.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Update the Kiwire Captive Portal to the latest available version from SynchroWeb. Until patching is completed, restrict access to the portal where feasible, monitor for suspicious activity and unexpected redirect behavior, and warn users about the risk of malicious redirections originating from the captive portal.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Apply the vendor-provided patch by updating Kiwire Captive Portal to the latest version. The advisory specifically recommends updating to the latest version provided by SynchroWeb and contacting the vendor for assistance if needed.
