Remote Buffer Overflow in UTT 进取 520W /goform/formPictureUrl

IdentifiersCVE-2026-0841CWE-120· Buffer Copy without Checking Size…

CVE-2026-0841 is a high-severity remote buffer overflow vulnerability affecting UTT 进取 520W firmware version 1.7.7-180627. The flaw is in the /goform/formPictureUrl handler, where the importpictureurl argument is copied with strcpy without proper bounds checking. An attacker able to reach the affected web management interface can supply crafted input that overflows the destination buffer, causing memory corruption. Public reporting indicates the issue is remotely exploitable and that exploit details are publicly available. The vendor reportedly did not respond to early disclosure attempts.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation can corrupt process memory in the device’s web management component, leading to service crash or device instability and potentially enabling arbitrary code execution, depending on memory layout and available exploit mitigations. The published scoring and advisory data indicate high impact to confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Until a fixed firmware is available, restrict or disable remote access to the device’s web management interface, especially untrusted access to /goform/* endpoints. Limit management-plane exposure to trusted administrative networks or VPN-only access, and enforce firewall rules or ACLs to block external reachability to the HTTP(S) service. Monitor network traffic and device logs for suspicious requests targeting /goform/formPictureUrl or oversized importpictureurl values.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade to a vendor-fixed firmware release if one becomes available. The vulnerable code path should be corrected by replacing the unsafe strcpy-based handling of importpictureurl with bounded copying and strict input length validation in /goform/formPictureUrl. If no patch is available, the most reliable remediation is to replace the affected device model or remove the vulnerable firmware from service, especially where the management interface is remotely reachable.
