Unauthenticated MCP Resource Access and Operation Execution in IBM Langflow OSS

IdentifiersCVE-2026-7664CWE-285

CVE-2026-7664 is a critical improper authorization vulnerability in IBM Langflow OSS affecting versions 1.0.0 through 1.8.4. The flaw is in the Streamable MCP transport endpoint, where authorization enforcement is insufficient, allowing requests to reach protected MCP project resources without proper access control checks. As a result, an unauthenticated remote attacker can access protected MCP project resources and execute MCP operations over the network without requiring privileges or user interaction.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation can allow a remote unauthenticated attacker to access protected MCP project resources and invoke MCP operations that should require authorization. Based on the provided severity metadata, the vulnerability has high confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact, meaning exploitation may expose sensitive project data, permit unauthorized modification or execution of MCP-related actions, and potentially disrupt service or project operations.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Until patching is completed, restrict network access to the Streamable MCP transport endpoint and protected MCP project resources to trusted users and administrative boundaries only. If possible, place the affected service behind authentication-enforcing reverse proxies, VPNs, IP allowlists, or other access-control layers to prevent unauthenticated reachability from untrusted networks.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade IBM Langflow OSS to a fixed version newer than 1.8.4 once the vendor-provided fix is available. Apply IBM/vendor security patches addressing the improper authorization enforcement issue in the Streamable MCP transport endpoint. Validate that the deployed version is no longer within the affected range of 1.0.0 through 1.8.4.
