JINX-0132 is a financially motivated cryptojacking threat actor targeting publicly exposed DevOps infrastructure, including HashiCorp Nomad and Consul, Docker Engine APIs, and Gitea deployments. The actor exploits insecure default configurations, exposed management interfaces, and, in some cases, potentially vulnerable or misconfigured application deployments to obtain remote code execution. JINX-0132 submits malicious workloads to unsecured Nomad environments, abuses Consul service-registration health checks capable of executing shell commands, and creates containers through exposed Docker APIs to execute cryptocurrency-mining software. The actor uses the legitimate XMRig miner to mine Monero through public mining infrastructure, relying on publicly available payload hosting rather than distinctive attacker-controlled delivery infrastructure. Exploitation of unsecured Nomad job submission represents a notable observed initial-access vector in this campaign.

JINX-0132 is a newly identified threat actor targeting DevOps infrastructure to deploy cryptocurrency miners, exploiting technologies like Consul, Docker, Gitea, and Nomad.
Conducts opportunistic cryptojacking by abusing publicly exposed and misconfigured DevOps services to obtain remote code execution, deploy the legitimate XMRig miner, and mine Monero using an attacker-controlled wallet.
