Elderwood, also known as Beijing Group, Elderwood Gang, and Sneaky Panda, is a China-linked threat actor. The group has used targeted spearphishing emails carrying malicious attachments to deliver zero-day exploits and malware, relying on recipients to open the attachments. Elderwood has also used the Ritsol backdoor to retrieve additional files on compromised hosts. Its documented tradecraft includes encrypting documents and malicious executables to hinder analysis or detection.
