It has been alleged to have conducted large-scale knowledge-distillation activity against U.S. frontier AI providers from mid-2025, collecting model outputs to support development of Kimi-K2 and Kimi-K3. Reported objectives included obtaining supervised fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, software-engineering, mathematics, agentic-reasoning, tool-use, data-analysis, computer-use, and computer-vision capabilities. The alleged activity used high-volume access to commercial AI-model services and sought proprietary model outputs for synthetic training data.
