UAC-0244 is a Ukraine-focused threat cluster also previously tracked as UAC-0247; CERT-UA determined that both identifiers refer to the same individuals. The actor has targeted Ukrainian users, including military-related audiences, through impersonation websites and humanitarian, drone, UAV, electronic-warfare, and military-industry themed lures. It distributed CamelSpy malicious Android applications through fraudulent sites impersonating Ukraine’s 3rd Army Corps, a men’s club, and other services. CamelSpy collects device location, SIM-card details, contacts, call records, and stored images. UAC-0244 has also conducted Windows malware delivery using malicious shortcut files, HTA-based execution, embedded archive downloads, and WebDAV/search-ms lures. Its tooling establishes persistence through scheduled tasks and deploys a loader that uses direct system-call resolution, delayed execution, encrypted payloads, and injection into a legitimate Windows process. The final payload functions as an encrypted reverse shell capable of receiving commands, executing them, and returning command output. Infrastructure associated with these campaigns was hosted through a Russian provider.
