xpl0itrs is a financially motivated data-extortion and stolen-data brokerage operation associated with the Boxturtle persona, which used the xpl0itrsturtle handle. The operation has been linked to the Cybercats Matrix community and to cooperation with TeamPCP. It has advertised and, in at least one case, published data allegedly obtained from victims in the automotive, retail, technology, financial-services, and education-software sectors. Reported victims include organizations in Australia, Germany, Italy, and the United States. xpl0itrs has used data-leak and sale activity to pressure victims following unsuccessful negotiations, including publication of allegedly stolen customer and other sensitive records. Claims characterizing all of its incidents as ransomware are reported, but encryption activity is not independently established.
