Soco404 is a cross-platform cryptomining campaign targeting exposed and misconfigured cloud-hosted services, including PostgreSQL deployments. It has also been associated with attacks against accessible Apache Tomcat servers and exploitation of vulnerable enterprise-facing services. The campaign deploys distinct Linux and Windows payload chains to install cryptocurrency miners connected to public mining pools.
On Linux, Soco404 executes downloader components in memory, removes competing miners and selected logs, modifies system settings to improve mining performance when privileged, and masquerades as legitimate system or kernel-related processes. It maintains persistence through scheduled tasks and shell-initialization configuration. On Windows, its loader establishes persistence through an auto-start service, attempts to disable Windows event logging, removes its initial staged executable, injects the mining payload into a console-host process, and uses a hardware-access driver commonly leveraged by mining software.
Soco404 operators conduct opportunistic scanning for reachable services and use compromised infrastructure and deceptive web-hosted payload delivery to support distribution. The activity is associated with broader suspected cryptocurrency-scam infrastructure, but a definitive attribution to a named threat actor is not established.

Cloud-focused malware campaign deploying cryptominers across Linux/Windows by exploiting vulnerabilities/misconfigurations (per summary).
Malware campaign that targets Linux and Windows cloud environments to deploy cryptocurrency miners.
Cross-platform cryptomining campaign targeting exposed or weakly protected services, including PostgreSQL. It deploys Linux and Windows loaders and mining payloads, uses process masquerading, removes competing miners and logs, establishes cron/shell or Windows-service persistence, and mines cryptocurrency using attacker-controlled wallets and pools.
