Frontline Education, a software and services provider for K–12 school districts, reportedly suffered a data breach after attackers exploited a vulnerability in an unnamed third-party application. According to customer notifications, the company discovered the vulnerability and unauthorized access on August 14, 2026; stolen employee information included Social Security numbers, email addresses, and home addresses. The number of affected districts and individuals, and the scope of records accessible through the application, remain undisclosed. School IT administrators reportedly verified the notifications, but Infosecurity Magazine reported no public confirmation from Frontline at the time of publication.
Frontline said it investigated the incident, remediated the vulnerability, engaged law enforcement, and was unaware of misuse of the stolen data. The company is offering affected employees two years of credit monitoring and identity theft protection through TransUnion and plans to handle individual and regulatory notifications unless districts opt out by October 16. Affected districts should confirm their exposure and notification arrangements with Frontline, while employees should review the offered identity-protection services.
