Ahold Delhaize is restoring services after a cyberattack prompted the grocery group to take systems offline on October 12, disrupting e-commerce and distribution operations across Europe and the United States. All physical stores remained open. Many European websites and applications have returned, and Belgian Delhaize deliveries have resumed. Albert Heijn expects to restart home deliveries by Friday after an outage expected to last at least 11 days, while US e-commerce services are expected to return within days.
The company attributed the incident to malicious activity by unidentified parties and reported it to Dutch police on October 19, having notified the Dutch National Cyber Security Centre and relevant authorities shortly after discovery. Ahold Delhaize has not disclosed the attack type and says it has found no evidence of customer, associate, or partner data theft; that assessment does not establish that no data was accessed. The Dutch cybersecurity centre said there was no reason to believe the incident was directly linked to cyberattacks in other countries.
