Bandit HTTP/2 Timeout Flaw Enables Unauthenticated Resource-Exhaustion Attacks
Vulnerability Disclosure · 3 sources · Updated 12h ago · First seen Oct 26, 2026

A high-severity denial-of-service vulnerability in Bandit's HTTP/2 request-body reader allows unauthenticated remote attackers to keep stream processes and application resources occupied indefinitely. Tracked as CVE-2026-115269, the flaw affects versions 1.4.0 through versions before 1.14.0 and carries a CVSS v4.0 score of 8.7. Attackers can repeatedly send WINDOW_UPDATE or empty SETTINGS frames to reset the request-body read timeout without supplying any body data.
Exposure is limited to HTTP/2-enabled Bandit servers with routes that read request bodies. Bandit 1.14.0 fixes the vulnerability; operators should identify affected deployments and upgrade. Where an immediate upgrade is not possible, disabling HTTP/2 is the documented workaround.
