The Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office (SCPO) in New Jersey disclosed unauthorized access to its network between July 15 and July 22, 2026. Investigators determined that files containing names, Social Security numbers, and driver’s license or state-issued identification card numbers were accessed and may have been taken. The disclosure did not establish confirmed data theft or identify the number of people affected.
SCPO received alerts about a computer network disruption on or about August 10, 2026, and launched an investigation with outside cybersecurity specialists. The office reported the incident to state and federal law enforcement, the New Jersey Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Cell, and the Office of Attorney General. The available information does not identify the intrusion method or attribute the activity to a threat actor.
