OS Command Injection in Mitsubishi Electric/ICONICS keypad function

IdentifiersCVE-2025-11774CWE-78· Improper Neutralization of Special…

CVE-2025-11774 is an OS command injection vulnerability in the software keyboard ("keypad") function of Mitsubishi Electric GENESIS64, ICONICS Suite, MobileHMI, and MC Works64, including Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions-branded variants. A local attacker can tamper with the keypad function's configuration file so that, when a legitimate user later uses the keypad function, the affected product executes an arbitrary executable file (EXE). Affected versions are GENESIS64, ICONICS Suite, and MobileHMI 10.97.2 CFR3 and prior, and MC Works64 all versions. The issue is classified as improper neutralization of special elements used in an OS command.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation allows arbitrary executable launch in the context of the affected workstation/PC when the keypad function is invoked by a legitimate user. This can lead to disclosure, tampering, deletion, or destruction of information stored on the host, and can also cause denial of service on the system. Based on the provided information, the primary impact is malicious code execution with resulting integrity, confidentiality, and availability consequences on the installed system.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Restrict local, remote, and physical access to affected systems; minimize network exposure of ICS assets; isolate control system networks from business networks; use firewalls and, where remote access is required, secure VPNs; and deploy antivirus/endpoint protections as recommended by the vendor/CISA. Limit the ability of untrusted users to modify keypad configuration files and monitor for unauthorized changes to those files.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade GENESIS64, ICONICS Suite, and MobileHMI to version 10.97.3 or later, which fixes the vulnerability. For MC Works64, no patch is available; users are advised to migrate or upgrade to GENESIS64 version 10.97.3 or later. Apply vendor security updates across all affected deployments.
