Out-of-bounds write in Adobe DNG SDK

IdentifiersCVE-2026-21352CWE-787· Out-of-bounds Write

CVE-2026-21352 is an out-of-bounds write vulnerability affecting Adobe DNG SDK version 1.7.1 2410 and earlier. The flaw can be triggered when a victim opens a malicious file processed by the vulnerable SDK. Successful exploitation may corrupt memory and lead to arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. The provided content identifies the issue specifically as an out-of-bounds write in DNG SDK and states that exploitation requires user interaction via opening a crafted file.

ANALYST BRIEF

Impact, mitigation & remediation

What it means. What to do now. Patch path, mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.

Impact

What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.

Successful exploitation can result in arbitrary code execution with the privileges of the current user. In practical terms, this allows an attacker to run attacker-controlled code within the affected application or process that uses the vulnerable DNG SDK, potentially enabling malware execution, data access available to that user, and follow-on compromise of the user session.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

Until the patch is applied, reduce exposure by preventing untrusted DNG or other attacker-supplied image files from being opened or processed by applications using the SDK. Practical mitigations include blocking or filtering such files at email and web gateways, restricting file associations and preview handling, disabling automatic processing of untrusted media where feasible, and limiting file opens to trusted sources only.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade Adobe DNG SDK to a fixed version newer than 1.7.1 2410 as provided by Adobe. Any applications that bundle or statically include the vulnerable SDK should be rebuilt and redeployed with the patched version. Apply the relevant Adobe security advisory guidance for DNG SDK.
