CVE-2026-42980 is an elevation of privilege vulnerability in the Windows NT OS Kernel caused by an integer underflow (wraparound). The available advisory information indicates that the flaw resides in kernel-level code and can be triggered by an authorized local attacker. Successful exploitation results in privilege escalation from the attacker's existing local context to higher privileges in the operating system.
