CVE-1999-0067 is an OS command injection vulnerability in the PHF CGI example program. User-controlled input reaches a shell-mediated phonebook lookup command without adequate neutralization of command separators. Filtering intended to escape shell metacharacters failed to handle newline characters, which the shell accepts as command separators; pipe metacharacters have also been identified as injectable command syntax. An unauthenticated remote requester can append commands to the program's intended command line.
