CVE-2002-0061 is an OS command injection vulnerability in Apache HTTP Server for Win32 before 1.3.24 and in the 2.0.x branch before 2.0.34-beta. The flaw affects handling of arguments passed to batch and command-shell CGI programs such as .bat and .cmd scripts. Apache forwards attacker-supplied CGI arguments containing shell metacharacters, specifically the pipe character, to the Windows shell interpreter without proper neutralization or filtering. Because the input is interpreted by the shell rather than treated as inert data, a remote attacker can append and execute arbitrary commands in the context of the Apache process.
