VLC media player 0.9.2 contains an array index error in the handling of XSPF playlist files. Specifically, a negative identifier tag in the playlist file is incorrectly processed due to a signed comparison, allowing an attacker to overwrite arbitrary memory locations. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code when a user opens a maliciously crafted XSPF file.
