A heap-based buffer overflow exists in IBM DB2 versions 9.1 before FP9, 9.5 before FP6, and 9.7 before FP2. The vulnerability can be triggered by a remote authenticated user issuing a SELECT statement with a long column name generated using the REPEAT function. The overflow occurs due to improper bounds checking when handling column names of excessive length, leading to memory corruption.
