CVE-2012-1854 is an insecure library-loading vulnerability in Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), including the VBE6.dll runtime used by affected Microsoft Office products and VBA SDK deployments. VBA incorrectly restricts the search path for external libraries. An attacker can place a malicious DLL alongside a legitimate Office document and induce a user to open that document, causing VBA to load the attacker-controlled library. The issue affects Office 2003 SP3, Office 2007 SP2/SP3, Office 2010 Gold/SP1, VBA, and specified VBA SDK versions; supported Office software containing the vulnerable shared component may also be affected.
