CVE-2012-3951 is a vulnerability in the MySQL component bundled with Plixer Scrutinizer, also known as Dell SonicWALL Scrutinizer, affecting version 9.0.1.19899 and earlier. The product provisions internal MySQL accounts with a default password of "admin" for the scrutinizer and scrutremote accounts. Because these credentials are undocumented and weak, a remote attacker who can reach the MySQL service over TCP can authenticate to the database and execute arbitrary SQL commands. The issue stems from the use of hard-coded or default administrative credentials in the deployed database component rather than user-defined secrets.

This repository contains a single Metasploit exploit module targeting Plixer Scrutinizer NetFlow and sFlow Analyzer version 9.5.2 or older (CVE-2012-3951). The exploit leverages default MySQL credentials and the fact that MySQL is bound to all interfaces (0.0.0.0) to gain remote access. It uploads a PHP script (containing a base64-encoded Windows executable payload) to the web server's HTML directory via the MySQL 'SELECT ... INTO DUMPFILE' technique. The PHP script is then triggered via HTTP, which writes and executes the payload, resulting in remote code execution as SYSTEM. The module is operational and allows for customizable payloads, typically resulting in a Meterpreter shell. The main attack vectors are network-based, requiring access to both the MySQL and HTTP services on the target. The repository is structured as a standard Metasploit module written in Ruby, with all exploit logic contained in a single file.
