CVE-2013-0143 is a command injection vulnerability in cgi-bin/pingping.cgi on QNAP VioStor NVR devices running firmware 4.0.3, and in the Surveillance Station Pro component on QNAP NAS systems. The vulnerable ping functionality fails to properly neutralize shell metacharacters supplied in the query string, allowing an authenticated remote user to inject arbitrary OS commands. Available context indicates this could be exploited by leveraging guest access, and that the affected scripts may execute with administrative privileges on the web server.
