CVE-2014-0096 is an XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability in Apache Tomcat's org.apache.catalina.servlets.DefaultServlet. Vulnerable releases do not adequately restrict XML external-entity declarations in XSLT stylesheets supplied by a web application. An attacker-controlled XSLT can define and reference an external entity, causing XML processing to access local resources despite intended Java SecurityManager restrictions. The issue affects Apache Tomcat before 6.0.40, 7.x before 7.0.53, and 8.x before 8.0.4, as well as affected JBoss Web-derived distributions.
