CVE-2014-2364 is a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in Advantech WebAccess before version 7.2. The flaw exists in multiple ActiveX controls (webvact.ocx, dvs.ocx, webdact.ocx) and can be triggered by sending a long string to parameters such as ProjectName, SetParameter, NodeName, CCDParameter, SetColor, AlarmImage, GetParameter, GetColor, ServerResponse, SetBaud, or IPAddress. Remote attackers can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code in the context of the user running the affected ActiveX control.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module targeting a buffer overflow vulnerability (CVE-2014-2364) in the Advantech WebAccess dvs.ocx ActiveX control. The exploit is delivered via a malicious web page that instantiates the vulnerable ActiveX control in Internet Explorer (versions prior to 10) on Windows systems. The exploit leverages a ROP chain using gadgets from ijl11.dll to bypass DEP and execute arbitrary shellcode, which can be customized using Metasploit's payload options. The main fingerprintable endpoint is the CLSID of the vulnerable ActiveX control. The exploit is operational and can be used to achieve remote code execution on vulnerable systems when a user visits the attacker's web page with a susceptible browser and configuration.
