CVE-2014-7816 is a directory traversal vulnerability in JBoss Undertow affecting 1.0.x before 1.0.17, 1.1.x before 1.1.0.CR5, and 1.2.x before 1.2.0.Beta3 when deployed on Windows. The flaw allows remote attackers to supply '..' path traversal sequences in a resource URI, causing Undertow to improperly limit the pathname to the intended restricted directory and enabling access to files outside the web root or configured resource directory. The issue is specific to Windows-based deployments of the affected Undertow versions.

This repository contains a single Metasploit auxiliary scanner module (modules/auxiliary/scanner/http/wildfly_traversal.rb) that exploits a directory traversal vulnerability (CVE-2014-7816) in the WildFly 8.1.0.Final web server (JBoss Undertow) running on Windows. The module sends a crafted HTTP GET request with a Windows-style directory traversal sequence (..\) to read arbitrary files from the server's filesystem, defaulting to 'standalone\configuration\standalone.xml'. The exploit is network-based, targeting port 8080, and is only effective against Windows installations of WildFly. The code is written in Ruby and is designed to be run within the Metasploit framework. The module saves any successfully retrieved files for later analysis. The repository is structured as a single Ruby file, with clear references to the affected product, CVE, and usage instructions.
