DROWN (Decrypting RSA with Obsolete and Weakened eNcryption) is a cross-protocol Bleichenbacher padding-oracle attack against TLS deployments whose RSA key is usable by an SSLv2-enabled service. SSLv2 causes a server to send a ServerVerify response before establishing that the client possesses required plaintext RSA data, exposing an oracle that can be combined with weak SSLv2 EXPORT cipher suites to recover TLS session keys. OpenSSL releases before 1.0.1s and 1.0.2g are affected when SSLv2 support is enabled; other SSL/TLS implementations and products are affected if they offer vulnerable SSLv2 behavior. A TLS endpoint can be exposed indirectly where its RSA private key is shared with a separate SSLv2-capable service, such as a mail service.

A vulnerability referred to as DROWN, associated with legacy SSLv2 support and weak SSL/TLS configurations, which prompted OpenSSL to disable SSLv2 and weak SSLv3 ciphers by default.
A cross-protocol attack that uses SSLv2 handshakes to decrypt TLS sessions, affecting SSL/TLS implementations that support SSLv2 and posing particular risk to older OpenSSL versions.
DROWN is a cross-protocol OpenSSL vulnerability allowing decryption of TLS sessions via SSLv2 and EXPORT cipher support acting as a Bleichenbacher oracle.
A cross-protocol SSLv2/TLS attack referenced in test output showing the evaluated setup is not vulnerable on the tested host and port.
