CVE-2016-15048 is an unauthenticated OS command injection vulnerability in AMTT Hotel Broadband Operation System (HiBOS). The flaw is present in the /manager/radius/server_ping.php endpoint, where the application builds and executes a shell command using the user-controlled ip parameter without proper validation, sanitization, or escaping. By supplying shell metacharacters in the ip parameter, a remote attacker can break out of the intended command context and execute arbitrary operating system commands. Available reporting indicates the issue is exploitable over HTTP via a crafted GET request and can be detected with blind/time-based techniques, such as injecting a sleep command and observing delayed responses. The injected commands execute with the privileges of the web server user.
