CVE-2016-3081 (S2-032) is an OGNL expression-injection vulnerability in Apache Struts 2 action invocation when Dynamic Method Invocation (DMI) is enabled. A user-controlled value accepted through the method: prefix can reach the action invocation path and be evaluated as an OGNL expression rather than being treated solely as an action-method identifier. The vulnerable flow evaluates an expression derived from the supplied method name, permitting a crafted chained expression to invoke attacker-selected Java functionality and execute arbitrary code. Vendor-listed affected releases are Struts 2.3.19 through 2.3.20.2, 2.3.21 through 2.3.24.1, and 2.3.25 through 2.3.28.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (modules/exploits/multi/http/struts_dmi_exec.rb) that exploits a remote code execution vulnerability (CVE-2016-3081) in Apache Struts versions 2.3.20 to 2.3.28 (excluding 2.3.20.2 and 2.3.24.2) when Dynamic Method Invocation is enabled. The exploit works by sending a specially crafted HTTP POST request to a Struts action endpoint (default: /struts2-blank/example/HelloWorld.action), injecting OGNL expressions that allow arbitrary code execution. The module supports Windows, Linux, and Java platforms, and can upload and execute custom payloads (EXE, JAR, or shell) on the target system. The code is weaponized, as it is part of the Metasploit framework and allows for easy payload customization and automated exploitation. The only fingerprintable endpoint is the configurable TARGETURI, which must point to a valid Struts action on the target server.
