CVE-2016-4459 is a stack-based buffer overflow in the mod_manager component of mod_cluster, including mod_cluster 1.2.9. The vulnerable handling of a JVMRoute value copies the value into an 80-character destination buffer using an unbounded strcpy operation. A JVMRoute path exceeding 80 characters overflows the buffer and causes a segmentation fault in the Apache HTTP Server process.
