CVE-2016-8735 is a deserialization-of-untrusted-data vulnerability in Apache Tomcat's JmxRemoteLifecycleListener. The listener was not updated to incorporate Oracle's fix for CVE-2016-3427 regarding credential types. When JmxRemoteLifecycleListener is enabled, an unauthenticated remote attacker able to access the Tomcat JMX service can exploit the flaw to execute arbitrary code. The affected listener was included in EWS 2.x and JBoss Web Server 3.x source distributions, making source-built deployments using those distributions particularly affected.
