ATutor 2.2.1 and earlier contain multiple path handling flaws. In the Course component, insufficient validation of user-supplied file paths allows directory traversal, and file extension checks can be bypassed, enabling an attacker to upload or place executable files in unintended locations and achieve code execution. The same CVE also covers a directory traversal issue in the Course Icon component, where improper restriction of path input can expose arbitrary files and lead to information disclosure.

1 valid exploit after Mallory filtered fakes, detection scripts, and README-only repos.
This repository contains a single Metasploit module (atutor_filemanager_traversal.rb) targeting ATutor 2.2.1 running on Linux/Apache/PHP. The exploit leverages a directory traversal vulnerability in the file manager component to upload a malicious ZIP file containing a PHP webshell, enabling remote code execution. If remote registration is not enabled, the module can exploit two additional vulnerabilities: a type juggling authentication bypass (confirm.php) and a password reset TOCTOU issue (password_reminder.php) to gain access. The exploit requires either valid credentials or the ability to exploit these authentication bypasses. The payload is a PHP webshell that executes code sent via a custom HTTP header. The module is operational and provides remote code execution if successful. The main attack vector is network-based, targeting HTTP endpoints of the ATutor application.
