A vulnerability in Cisco IOS 12.2 through 15.6 exists in the implementation of the PROFINET Discovery and Configuration Protocol (PN-DCP). Improper parsing of ingress PN-DCP Identify Request packets allows an unauthenticated, remote attacker to send a crafted packet followed by normal PN-DCP Identify Request packets, causing the device to reload. This results in a denial of service (DoS) condition. The issue affects devices with PROFINET enabled, which is the default on certain switch modules and expansion-unit Ethernet ports since IOS 12.2(52)SE.
