A vulnerability in Cisco IOS XE Software's implementation of BGP over EVPN (RFC 7432) allows an unauthenticated, remote attacker to send crafted BGP Inclusive Multicast Ethernet Tag Route or MAC/IP Advertisement Route update packets to a device with BGP EVPN enabled. Due to a miscalculation of the IP address length field, the device may reload or the BGP routing table may be corrupted, leading to network instability or denial of service. Only devices configured for EVPN and running IOS XE prior to 16.3 are affected.
