CVE-2018-10088 is an unauthenticated stack-based buffer overflow in the HTTP login handling of Xiongmai uc-httpd 1.0.0, used in Xiongmai-derived DVR, NVR, and IP-camera products. An overlong login username supplied to the HTTP login interface can overflow memory during request processing. The issue is distinct from CVE-2017-16725. Although a widely circulated proof of concept is reported to cause only a crash, exploitation research has demonstrated that firmware-specific code execution can be achieved by corrupting relevant control data and redirecting execution to attacker-controlled data.
