CVE-2018-13383 is a post-authentication heap-based buffer overflow in the SSL VPN WebVPN portal of Fortinet FortiOS and FortiProxy. While proxying a webpage, the WebVPN JavaScript parser copies JavaScript href-related data using an input-controlled length into a fixed 0x2000-byte heap buffer without adequate bounds checking. An authenticated attacker can cause the appliance to proxy attacker-controlled web content containing oversized JavaScript data, corrupting adjacent heap objects. Affected versions include FortiOS 6.0.0 through 6.0.4, 5.6.0 through 5.6.10, 5.4.0 through 5.4.12, and 5.2.14 and earlier, as well as FortiProxy 2.0.0 and 1.2.8 and earlier.

A Fortinet FortiGate SSL VPN remote code execution vulnerability allowing an authenticated user to execute code on the VPN server.
A post-authentication heap overflow in FortiGate SSL VPN's WebVPN JavaScript parsing, caused by copying an unbounded JavaScript buffer into a fixed 0x2000-byte buffer. The article demonstrates chaining it with CVE-2018-13379 to obtain authentication and achieve remote code execution via a forged SSL structure and ROP chain.
A post-authentication heap overflow in FortiGate SSL VPN WebVPN JavaScript parsing. Combined with CVE-2018-13379 to steal credentials/session information, the researchers demonstrated reliable remote code execution by overwriting an OpenSSL SSL structure and redirecting execution through a forged function pointer and ROP chain.
