CVE-2018-4939 is an unsafe deserialization vulnerability in Adobe ColdFusion affecting ColdFusion Update 5 and earlier, and ColdFusion 11 Update 13 and earlier. Adobe describes it as a Deserialization of Untrusted Data issue. The flaw allows attacker-controlled serialized data to be processed by the application, which can result in arbitrary code execution. Adobe’s associated bulletin for ColdFusion 11 and 2016 identifies unsafe Java deserialization among the affected issues and recommends both product updates and Java serialization filtering controls for JEE/J2EE deployments.
