CVE-2019-12086 is an unsafe polymorphic deserialization vulnerability in FasterXML jackson-databind 2.x before 2.9.9. When Default Typing is enabled globally or on a property of an externally exposed JSON endpoint, attacker-controlled type metadata can cause Jackson to instantiate the MySQL MiniAdmin gadget from a vulnerable mysql-connector-java dependency. Insufficient validation of this type enables interaction with an attacker-controlled MySQL service and can disclose arbitrary local files from the application server.

This repository is a proof-of-concept (POC) exploit for CVE-2019-12086, targeting applications using vulnerable versions of jackson-databind (<2.9.9) with Default Typing enabled and mysql-connector-java (<=8.0.14) in the classpath. The exploit demonstrates how an attacker can craft a malicious JSON payload that, when deserialized by the vulnerable application, causes the server to connect to an attacker-controlled MySQL server. This connection can be abused to read arbitrary files from the server and exfiltrate their contents to the attacker's MySQL server, as described in the README. The repository includes a Java POC (Main.java) that constructs and deserializes the malicious payload, a Dockerfile for environment setup, and Maven configuration files. The README provides detailed vulnerability analysis, exploitation steps, and mitigation advice. The main attack vector is network-based, requiring the victim server to connect out to an attacker-controlled MySQL server. Key endpoints include the JDBC URL in the payload and the attacker's MySQL log file where exfiltrated data is stored.
