CVE-2019-25652 is an improper certificate verification vulnerability in UniFi Network Controller before version 5.10.22 and in 5.11.x before 5.11.18. During SMTP connections, the application does not properly verify the presented SSL certificate, specifically failing to securely validate the remote host certificate during the SMTP certificate validation process. This weakness allows an attacker on an adjacent network to present a forged or otherwise invalid certificate and successfully impersonate the intended SMTP server in a man-in-the-middle position. As a result, SMTP traffic handled by the controller can be intercepted despite the use of SSL/TLS.
