CVE-2020-10173 is an authenticated command injection vulnerability affecting Comtrend VR-3033 devices running firmware DE11-416SSG-C01_R02.A2pvI042j1.d26m. The flaw is present in the router’s web-based diagnostic functionality, specifically the ping and traceroute pages. Insufficient neutralization of user-supplied input allows shell metacharacters supplied through diagnostic parameters, including the pingIpAddress parameter handled by ping.cgi, to be interpreted by the underlying operating system shell. An authenticated attacker with access to the administrative interface can inject arbitrary commands and cause them to execute on the device.
