CVE-2020-3566 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in the Distance Vector Multicast Routing Protocol feature of Cisco IOS XR Software. The flaw is caused by insufficient queue management for Internet Group Management Protocol packets handled by the affected DVMRP functionality. By sending crafted IGMP traffic to a vulnerable device, an unauthenticated remote attacker can drive excessive memory consumption in the relevant process. The resulting resource exhaustion can destabilize the device and affect additional processes beyond IGMP, including interior and exterior routing protocols.
