Multiple vulnerabilities in the Distance Vector Multicast Routing Protocol (DVMRP) feature of Cisco IOS XR Software allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to trigger denial of service conditions in the Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) process. The flaws are caused by incorrect handling of IGMP packets within the DVMRP feature. By sending crafted IGMP traffic to an affected device, an attacker can either immediately crash the IGMP process or force it to consume available memory until it eventually crashes. The resulting resource pressure can also negatively affect other processes running on the device.

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.
lpts pifib hardware police flow igmp rate <value>, which can slow exploitation of the memory-exhaustion condition but does not eliminate the vulnerability. Additionally, apply inbound ACLs/ACEs on relevant interfaces to block DVMRP IGMP traffic, for example by denying igmp any any dvmrp in an IPv4 ACL.Patch, then assume compromise.
